That hard drive you linked to on pcmall.com appears to be a SAS, or Serial 
Attached SCSI, drive. Make sure your hard drive controller is designed to use 
SAS if you get this (or any other) SAS drive. Most SAS controllers can run SATA 
hard drives, but I don't think the hard drives themselves are backwards 
compatible with SATA controllers.

Looking closer at Seagate's site, I see they offer 6GBps SAS and 3GBps SATA 
model on this drive.

Also, if you're going to use a specific RAID enclosure or NAS, make sure that 
the drive you are interested in is on the compatibility list for your device.
