I used to use Veritas back in the <v9 days, then I went to rsm scripts and ntbackup for a couple years and gave up. Managing rsm was a PITA to say the least.
Now we use rsync/ntbackup to get data staged (ntbackup for things like system state on DC's) and Bacula to ultimately archive and manage retention. jlc From: Sam Cayze [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, March 24, 2010 6:45 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: NTbackup Methods High level question: For those of you using NTbackup for servers, how do you manage them? Is the NT backup tool itself enough to properly manage rotations/overwrites/diffs/fulls, etc? Or do you opt to script a wrapper around the ntbackup command line that enables more powerful logic? (I think I would prefer a little scripting, just for the simple method of getting some alerting/reporting). Been spoiled with 3-rd party backups tools my whole IT experience. I have 2 isolated servers I need to start backing up. I have lots to learn about NTBackup... I'll research the specifics on my own. Just thought I would ask...
