On the phone with PSS due to SP2 causing mass problems with a clients
SBS 2008 setup. Sharepoint pulls up blank..OWA, "service not
available..then it is..then its not, missing icons..etc, Connect script
doesn't work, general slowness.... Removed SP2 all works perfectly.
Reinstall..same problem. Not many error logs other than the expected
ones.. A few IIS cannot set bandwidth, connection throttling, etc..

Found issues like this all over the Internet in the last couple of weeks
with all sorts of wacky solutions... After 8 hours of PSS, several tier
2 and tier 3 apparently...Remove the Kernel Authentication patch,
973917, then remove SP2..Then reinstall SP2, and then reinstall 973917..
Oh yeah then had to reinstall Exchange Rollup 9 because we kept getting
Outlook prompts for reauthentication after all of that...Then the rest
of the patches that came out afterwards for 2008..

Told the tech when they broke all this down, (sarcastically)
"Sure..Whats another service pack?" After removing Sp2 twice,
reinstalling twice, sure why not......then... she began to explain what
a service pack is and why they are important... They don't get jokes
very well. I was so tired at this point, I just let her ramble while my
mind went off to a comforter, soft pillow and the gentle sounds of my
wife sleeping...

Just thought I would share my pain, and who knows..maybe this may happen
to you in the near future and you will have a leg up.
