Something to consider, especially since you said it was for a man, not to be sexist or anything like that, but mens hands/fingers are typically larger than womens are. I have a netbook and the keyboard is small even for me. If you get your guy a netbook and he can't use the keyboard because his fingers are larger, you'll end up having to get an external keyboard. Which in my opinion just really negates the size/weight advantage of a netbook. You should try one out before you buy it.
