What happens if you disable publishing to AD for one printer and then re-enable
it?

Subject: Odd behavior after DNS work

All,

Win2k3 server in a Win2k3 domain.

After following the directions in this article:

http://windowsitpro.com/article/articleid/46989/how-can-i-keep-from-getting-event-id-4515-errors-in-my-dns-server-event-log.html

I found a large number of static addresses missing and some old invalid
addresses reappeared. Not a huge deal, but annoying, and I think I've got that
all cleaned up.

However, now I'm seeing a different and more puzzling problem: The printer
advertisements in AD from out file/print server are gone. I don't know if the
above work had anything to do with it, but I'm suspicious.

Printing still works - if the user/workstation had a connection before, that
still exists and works.

But, browsing the directory reveals only a few printers attached to
workstations, not the printers on the main file/print server.

I've tried restarting the spool service, to no avail.

Will I need to reboot the file/print server to regain those advertisements?

Is there anything else I can do to get those back, short of rebooting the
server?

Thanks,

Kurt
