To be more specific, the 2610 is a pure layer 2 switch. Generally speaking the 2x10 switches (2610, 2810, 2910) are all pure layer 2.
By "ProCurve 2600 series" I'm referring to the 2626, 2650 and their PoE variants. A "ProCurve 2800 series" would be a 2824 and a 2848.
