Never said Reader & Acrobat 9 weren't. Adobe's PDF v9 products are vulnerable due to their bundled SWF playback abilities.
However, it's not your typical PDF vulnerability. Disabling JavaScript won't help any as it doesn't seem to be involved here - attaching a Flash movie is no more complicated than attaching (say) a QuickTime movie or a Word document.
