Yep. Even in North Georgia, it's 10-digit dialing. Where I grew up (SE
Tennessee) the area code split and we got a new area code (615 went to
Nashville area and we got 423.) Then that split again and the Knoxville area
got 865 ("VOL" for those who don't know it is short for Volunteer, the
nickname of the state and UT Knoxville's sports teams!) The first split had
to be at least 20 years ago, I'd guess.I have a Google voice number, personally, but it's a Chattanooga, TN prefix. I need to start putting THAT number on any resume's I hand out as it'll ring home AND cell. :-) -----Original Message----- From: Erik Goldoff [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, June 23, 2010 1:51 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: OT: Google Voice We haven't had 7 digit dialing in the Atlanta area for 15 years or more. We have 3 separate 'Local' area codes. Erik Goldoff IT Consultant Systems, Networks, & Security ' Security is an ongoing process, not a one time event ! The only difference in long distance is adding a "1". Agreed on the local company comment, however.
