Looks like this is one link:

At the very least Microsoft should have made this manageable via GPO.

I seem to recall trying this and not getting any joy, but I may have
been doing it wrong :-) Unless it didn't work on Server 2008 R2, which
is what I am using for my users, but to all intents and purposes it
generally behaves just like Windows 7

I may have another bash at it when I get back to work tomorrow.

There is a “disable libraries” REG file out on the Internet. I’ve used
it a few times, it does work. I’d assume you could GPO it. If you can’t
find it, let me know. I found it fairly quick Googl’ing.

I'd be very interested in any answer to this. I found them impossible
to disable during my testing period. I managed to hide most of the
extraneous Explorer views by removing them from the base user profile
for our new system, but I couldn't get rid of libraries. And you're
right - they are a PITA, particularly when presented to your less-savvy
IT user.

Hi Folks,

In testing our deployment for Windows 7 here, Windows "libraries" are a
source of user confusion. I'd rather the traditional "my documents", etc
instead of libraries. I can see files getting lost in libraries being an
IT headache. Anyone have any suggestions for managing/disabling
libraries?

Thanks,
