Version, Service Pack Level, Backup application

Likely causes:
Removable Storage Service is *not* disabled - assuming you are using your
backup application provided drivers.

Drivers/Firmware need updating - you can download and use HP's free Library
and Tape Tools to update the library and drive firmware.

Apply latest patches to your backup software
