Electronics commonly have thermal problems. There's been many a time I've troubleshot motherboards with a can of freeze spray.

I left it in the freezer the whole time (with the extention running out between the gasket. The colder it got, the longer between "failures" I had. With out the cold, the drive immeadiately fails.
