In that case, presumably you are either purchasing a new box to use as the host system or re-purposing an existing system, so you might want to consider using that box as a lab machine and practice your P to V migration and operations beforehand. They get experience and an opportunity to develop the cookbook that Jon H. suggests.
If neither situation applies for some reason, even a moderately powerful desktop is good enough to dual-boot an existing OS and Hyper-V for learning purposes.
