I would wrap it with bubbles on the inside, so the stiffer surface area outside is contigous and will help spread any load across multiple bubbles on the inside ( kind of the theory of a Kevlar vest spreading the load of a bullet )
You’ll get better load spreading protection from a failed bubble on the inside than the outside.
