Why would anyone pay more, for less, when there are other automobile
manufacturers who can sell you the product at the same price you were paying
before?

In a competitive market, you would pay (at most) the same price as before. To
get *extra* functionality, you may pay more.

Cheers
Ken

Ok... back to the automotive example... you buy a car that's got a governor on
it, limiting it to 45 mph. You want to be able to drive 65 Mph. The car is
completely capable of going that speed. The manufacturer has been selling the
same *exact* car, without the governor for the same price as they are asking
you to pay now, only now you have to pay to remove the governor.
