Turns out there is no GPO setting for "manual". It's either on or off. So
I'll write a script to edit the registry. Thanks anyway.

You can remove the registry keys via GPO and/or change the service options in
the same way. Either way GPO is the best option if all your machines are
domain-joined.

Folks,
I recently implemented a workstation management product that does patching
(Windows updates, Acrobat, and a few other vendors). Until now we used a WSUS
server and it worked fine.
What I am seeing is workstations are still registering with the WSUS server,
the server not yet retired. What are your recommendations to stop this. I could
do any of the following:
- write a script so that customized WSUS registry keys are removed/set back to
default. These registry edits were done pre-Active Directory when we used
Zenworks.
- disable or set to manual automatic updates using a GPO
The new management software has its own agent so I don't need automatic updates
to be enabled. But I do wish it not to be disabled should we need to manually
run updates for some reason.
Recommendations?
