I'm curious...if they're dictating the requirements, why have you do it? Put it another way, are they paying for your expertise? VMWare server 2 is truly horrible. If you've never worked with it, you'll come to loathe it in a short time. I used it for about a month to host a VM before I transitioned to ESXi. On the same box, with the same configuration, I was rebooting both the host and the guest OS's constantly usually for nonresponsiveness, host, guest, both... I later turned that box into an ESXi host and it hosted 4 servers without breaking a sweat.
If you're saying Virtual Server, I agree, but MS Hyper-v is a different beast altogether.
