FYI: Sometimes not installing the vendor bloatware isn't enough. Some of the dubious "features" default to on. I know I spent forever trying to figure out what I thought was a malfunctioning NIC in a Dell M4400. It kept negotiating lower speeds than I wanted. This was a clean Windows install; no Dell bloatware, just drivers. Turns out the Intel driver was defaulting "AutoPowerSaveModeEnabled" to on. You had to explicitly turn it off. This APSM "feature" causes the NIC to negotiate to the slowest speed when on battery. http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg59565.html -- Ben ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
