Thanks again MBS, I got it working as I wanted.

Regarding writing a book - I understand where you are coming from, to a
lesser extent. I've written several published how-to technical articles
for my Triumph Spitfire.

It's one thing to know that 'when I do X, I get Y' - but it is another
thing entirely to be able to answer 'why do you get Y when you do X?'.

For the time being, with SCOM I'm happy to know that "When I do X, I get
Y". J I've got some SCOM training lined up for 2011.

Well, I will say that - in general - OpsMgr prefers to only alert you
ONCE about particular issues, in order to reduce noise.

In terms of figuring stuff out - you should write a book about it. I
did. Learned a lot. J

You create multiple notifications with a delay specified on the Alert
Aging dialog of the notification wizard. It really is easy. J

Subject: SCOM question

Hey folks,

Is anyone out there familiar with SCOM 2007 R2 ? I'm still learning my
way around and I have a (I thought) simple task that I just can't seem
to figure out.

I have an alert that will email me when a server stops replying to ping.
Piece of cake, not a problem. Where I'm hitting my head against the
wall is that I want the alert to "nag" me every x minutes until the
state is 'closed' on the alert.

>From what little I'm finding on Google, this does not seem to be
something easy to do. This is blowing my mind, as I'm more used to
Whats Up or IPMonitor where you can tell it easily to alert you every x
minutes until resolution.

It just seems that this would be a basic setting in any monitoring
utility. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Jim
