(Oops, I had only responded to Ryan privately) We only need a single VM, it would be running CentOS. The task is to be a backup for a high volume listserv. The current primary machine is a 1.2GHz Athlon with 1GB RAM, to give you an idea of the requirements.
It's easy to find good providers that give you paravirtualized Xen instances (Linode and Slicehost are two of 'em), but I'm trying to make sure I've covered all the bases before I make a final decision.
