Assuming your web filter has this ability. Why can't you just assign
the logons for those pc's to a group than can only access the specific
sites they need? Base everything off the user id or pc name and forget
about IP's. I do this all the time with my Barracuda. If the user is a
member of this AD group it can go here and no where else. It's how I
locked down our training kiosks to only access our online training
sites. And since a majority of my pc's are general use data collection
pc's on the shop floor I have a group in AD that says if you're a member
then you are denied all internet access. Everyone else gets filtered
like usual.

Subject: IP range for labs

Please forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question... not enough coffee
yet.

I have a situation where one of the professors wants to keep students
from cheating by restricting access to online quizes using the IP
addresses of the classroom workstations. She can do this with the
software.

Here is my problem - not surprisingly I'm using a DHCP server. I refuse
to give over half the campus static IP addresses. I could reserve them,
but they won't be in a nice seqential order like she wants. Is there
another option I am missing?
