I think that is good advice. We are hiring and doing some phone screenings
today to see who we want to bring in for an interview, one fellow did just as
you suggested and sent a very nice, professional email to the recruiter we are
working with right after the call today, the recruiter forwarded the email to
my boss and I the tenor of it left a very favorable impression...

Don't 'ask' for an update. Drop them an professional email expressing your
continued interest in the position and ask them if they require any more
information or clarification from you. They will know you want an update on
their progress, but you will be asking for it politely and letting them know
you are still keen on the position.

Last Wednesday....I accepted but asked if they could get me more time off (i
have a LOT where I am). They asked for a few days to see if they could work it
out with upper mgmt. It has been more than a week. Should I wait a few more
days or should I ask them for an update? I've worked with this company as a
customer for a number of years, but not with this individual.

Thanks.
