They told us the BB 8830 would be able to do GPS/nav/maps. When delivered, the GPS API was disabled. VZW claimed it was because they couldn't allow GPS until they made sure it was compatible with their network. I have a statement marked "VZW Corporate PR - Do Not Modify" from them about it. There are several things wrong with that, but the biggest is that the GPS receiver is part of the E911 location function, which is required for FCC certification. Also, same model from Sprint worked just fine, roaming on VZW's towers. So Sprint's phones actually worked better with VZW's network than VZW's phones did.
