In %appdata%\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries are a number of XML files controlling which Libraries appear. You can either try editing them, or copying them from a user who has already hidden the Public area...same end results Also found this utility (shlib) which lets you edit them from the command line http://www.grimadmin.com/article.php/creating-modifying-windows-7-libraries These reg keys let you hide the Favorites and Libraries from the default Explorer view HKCR\CLSID\{323CA680-C24D-4099-B94D-446DD2D7249E}\ShellFolder Attributes DWORD A9400100 HKCR\CLSID\{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}\ShellFolder Attributes DWORD B090010D Others may have better tips, but these seem to have achieved what I was after.
