We have a couple of machines here recently infected that McAfee told us was infected but couldn't completely clean the system. The Service Desk guys went to their normal plan B (Malwarebytes) and while it has worked in the vast majority of other cleanings, it couldn't clean these two. They ping me a and also say "should we just re-OS?" I said try Vipre Rescue (I believe in having many many arrows in my quivers!).
...and just like that I have two converts (three actually - their boss, who is not me) to consider Vipre Enterprise as our McAfee replacement. I remember suggesting Vipre a couple years ago and got blank stares because nobody had heard of them. Actually they had still never heard of it except from me. I know it hasn't been perfect for everyone (and no product is), but I'm pretty sure we'll add them to our "AV shootout" that is now scheduled to happen shortly. Our McAfee licenses expire in April.
