1. This goes for almost all of IT in general, so I consider this moot as to the function and responsibility of IT. 2. That goes without saying, and most people like to think that bad things wont happen to them, instead of planning for the eventuality
It is certainly something that is difficult to quantify, never mind explain the reality of to most execs. But, I can attest, that within the past couple of years I managed to salvage *millions* of dollars worth of reoccurring business when I discovered the competition was sneaking into our network via the help of an ex-employee. If it wasn't for the discovery, the competition would have likely won an up-coming bid that would have excluded us from our primary client and a majority of our business. Its hard to quantify as future ROI since its such an open-ended issue, and the stories you will find may be hard to relate to your management and/or business. -- ME2 On Tue, Feb 22, 2011 at 10:53 AM, David Lum <[email protected]> wrote: > This is on a Powerpoint that just came to my desk: > > > > Myth: Security produces ROI > > Fact: Security is a negative deliverable > > 1.
