Good thinking. Yet, I even killed Explorer manually so the installer didn't have to. Odd to say the least.

I bet it's not Internet Explorer that caused the crash, but Windows Explorer & the shell interface. I've generally found that stuff leaks resources like... like... a really leaky thing.
