Thanks Michael,

Environment: SCOM 2007 SP1 all on one server. Up until this point, just
been using it for KMS reports and ACS for our domain controllers. We have
a different tool for our regular monitoring environment.

I followed all the documentation, and configured it with a HOST and
targets. the problem is that the HOST system (from which the PINGING
happens) shows as "not monitored" under Hosts, as do the target systems
under Status. So I'm not really sure where to go with this. SCOM is
definitely not my area of expertise. I'm very familiar with SCCM, and
would think at some level this must work in a similar manner. Where the
HOST system is getting the job to ping target systems. but I have no idea
where to look and see if that is happening. I've looked at the event logs
on the RMS and the HOST system, but nothing stands out. The HOST system is
a healthy SCOM client. I have tried changing the HOST system to another
machine and get the same results.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
