Hi All i have hit a wall on this one and would like some advice as this is my first windows 2008 / Windows 7 setup have been used to windows 2003 and XP before this
scenario: brand new setup of: Windows 2000 Server R2 foundation on HP N36L Micro Server - 64 bit 3 x Windows 7 Pro clients, HP500B created a windows 2008 R2 AD Domain setup a folder on server called 'private' shared it out with all users having full control at both NTFS and share level created sub folders for individual users, set permissions so that their accounts are the only ones with access along with domain admins at NTFS level usually on XP i would create a logon script to map z: to the users folder with the batch file command 'net use z: \\server\private\%username%' however this did not work. with a little digging i set the users home folder in ADUC Profile tab to connect z: to \\server\private\<userid> where <userid> is the individuals user account name so the z: drive is now mapped. but i cannot manually move the documents folder for the user to the z: drive as windows 7 complains about not being able to index the library in GPO i set folder redirection under User Config/Windows Settings/Folder Redirection/Documents to 'Basic - Redirect everyones folder to same location' and target folder to users home directory - but this is being ignored please help thanks Laurence ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
