+1 for Buffalo. I loathe our NAS device. I have only some netadmin related stuff on it, for backup purposes. It is also slow, and doesn't speak NTFS. I will also reiterate a comment I've made previously. Back when I was looking for cost effective SAN equipment, Buffalo was coming out with some SAN capable equipment. My CDW rep got a Buffalo sales rep on the line, and I asked about getting a demo unit. The Buffalo rep's suggestion was that I order via CDW and avail myself of their return policies, while the CDW rep was on the line! That kind of behavior speaks volumes about a company, and I know for certain that the Buffalo rep is still employed, as my CDW rep still has to deal with him regularly.
