There's an exploitable bug in Reader X. The sandbox will (hopefully) limit what any attacker can access once they've exploited the bug. The sandbox is on by default but is not compatible with many things, including redirected folders, certain printing environments, terminal servers, the letter 'K', etc. Thus many organizations have to have the sandbox turned off. The sandbox isn't present on Mac or *nix, but the vulnerability may exist there as well. Adobe doesn't seem to care; they're using the sandbox as a crutch so they don't have to manage the release of as many updates. The fact that many of their customers are left in the lurch doesn't seem to bother them. -- Ben ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
