Try going to the folder where Trend is installed and (safe mode is probably
your best bet) run "pccctool.exe" and select the "uninstall" tab and then
click on the "uninstall" button. That might help. That's what seems to have
*finally* gotten rid of most of the hooks that Trend had in the laptop I'm
working on.

Subject: Vipre / trend micro error

I have a small client we swapped from trend micro to vipre. We did the vipre
removal of trend , installed vipre and when we rebooted we are getting a
stop error on mup.sys. MSKB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/906866 is
exactly whats happening, but this doesn’t fix it. We have 4 items registered
in Security Center so Im guessing trend didn’t uninstall correctly. 

We don’t have trend listed as installed, so Im wondering if there was
somewhere I could go quickly to remove its registration from Security
Center. As an interim, we are disabling security center on the local boxes.
This is only on XP not Win7 …
