Self-defensive?

Google is a worse fit for Skype.  They're already doing some of the things
that Skype does.  Google acquiring them would create overlap.

Microsoft can now provide a consumer VoIP solution as well as a corporate
VoIP solution, and reach all the way to mobile.   It makes their
Unified Communications strategy that much more compelling for a change.
