As said, just expand the drive using the VI Client and then use diskpark
from within the VM to expand the drive online.

I think I've used extpart once but that was only because it was a boot
drive, for additional volumes just stick with diskpart as it's included
with Windows.

It' easy enough o add the space in vSphere client by editing the vDisk
but how you get that extra available space in W2k3? I was looking at
other ways than Dell's extpart.
Thanks I'll look at dispart.

Thanks

Are you talking about expanding the virtual drive at the VM level or
expanding the partition at the guest level?

The first can be done via the vSphere client, and the latter with
diskpart.

I have a few virtual machines that I need to add more disk space. These
are NOT boot drives and OS is Windows 2003.

What is the "best" method? Dell used to have a utility but it's pulled
and apparently not "safe"?

That's why I'm asking.
