Hi - I have inherited an issue and need some help with it... Wondering if anyone else has some ideas on what to try.
I have a remote site, which includes 7 2000/XP desktops and it is connected via VPN tunnel. Each user has told me their login and logout takes forever. I've timed it and it's well over 5 minutes. They use their desktops for mostly internet and some excel and word. They connect to our terminal server for the rest of their applications. Currently the users are setup with roaming profiles, the profiles are located at our main site on a server which means it has to be copied over the VPN. Their my documents are also redirected to another folder on a same server when they login to either their desktop or the terminal server. I am trying to find the best solution to reduce the login/out times and keep things as simple as possible. Do I: A. Have the users login locally on their computers instead of using domain logins? Remove the roaming profile and keep the my documents redirected to the server? B. Have the users continue to login using their domain logins and remove the roaming profile and remove the redirection of their my documents? Teach them to save things directly to the mapped network drives. C. Any other idea? What do others do with remote sites/roaming profiles/folder redirection. thanks - Kelli ~ Finally, powerful endpoint security that ISN'T a resource hog! ~ ~ <http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Business/VIPRE-Enterprise/> ~ --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to [email protected] with the body: unsubscribe ntsysadmin
