  I find the [Print Screen] key works pretty well.  (It captures a
bitmap of the screen to the clipboard.)

  [Alt]+[Print Screen] will capture just the current window.

  I usually paste it into MS Paint and save as a PNG.  PNG = lossless,
full-color, small.  BMP is huge.  JPEG is lossy -- fine for photos,
not good for screen shots.

  I recall reading of some Firefox extension that will dump a bitmap
of an entire webpage, even if the whole thing  won't fit on the screen
at once.  Never tried it, but it might be useful for that.
