I've used both View and XenDesktop, and IMHO, XenDesktop is streets ahead,
particularly for remote users. YMMV

You can use various methods to auto-provision new machines from templates.
View and XD both have their own ways of doing this. You can unlock these
templates and update them as necessary. For existing virtual desktop
machines, you update them in the same way you would update the rest of your
workstation estate.
