Yes I have gotten the splash screen only on cold boots but not on reboots, but sometimes I have not gotten it on cold boots either. Also, occassionally it somehow messes with the bios settings so that I must zap the pram to get the computer to a. turn off or b. turn on correctly, as it will either not boot or shut down early in the booting process for linux.
