Hello again, Went to root and uninstalled the lame printers. I am using the HP1320 laser printer at work and the HP psc 750 all in one inkjet at home.
I was able to get my daughters network printing going at home on ubuntu deb, but I have not suceeded here with DebPPC yet; any pointers from those who have suceeded? In general all official Debian mirrors[1] are safe repositories. If you still want to stick to CDs/DVDs I recommend to use jigdo[2] for preparing up-to-date ISO images. To keep your system updated invoke apt-get update apt-get upgrade on a weekly basis.
