Hi Carlos, I will take a look at the SONIC driver very soon. I don't know of a way to disable that driver. But it would not be a problem to disable the driver when compiling a new kernel. I'd like to get more information about the machine check. The two lines below aren't the only error messages, are they? In order to get the boot messages sent to the serial port you have to connect you PB to another Macintosh via a serial (printer) cable and give the kernel the boot parameter "console=ttyS0,115200". 115200 is the highest baudrate that will work. You should also add the argument "debug" in order to get more detailed information. In MacOS Classic or MacOS X you can use ZTerm to see what the PB sends. I also did it that way to develop those latest patches as it is the only chance to see what happened before the shutdown "miboot.image" is for use with miboot which is a boot loader that allows you to boot from HFS formatted media like floppy, CD-ROM and hard drive partitions without the need of having MacOS installed at all. With a SCSI CD-ROM that supports booting a MacOS installation CD on your PB you will be able to use the miboot ISO images from the nubus-pmac project site's files section. miboot uses the same routines as BootX but with miboot you can use compressed images while the BootX versions (>=1.2) that support compressed kernels don't support NuBus Macs.
