Thanks guys! Sebastien- yes I was falling your excellent tutorial, though I think you rightfully assume that one would have a working knowledge of visual studio, which I don't.
I managed to get our TD's attention at the studio here, and he pointed out my problem- I hadn't set the compiler to Release X64- it was still in 32 bit mode! He's also certain that visual studio 2008 will work in my case, I guess I'll use it until I run into more problems. thanks heaps!
