Yes that would be useful. It would probably have to go on the Node itself
and control the overlay for that Node-type as sometimes you want to see the
overlays for two Nodes at the same time.

I have actually implemented something like this in NUKE, ostensibly to
allow Roto overlays to be shown and/or selectable even when not "active",
for supes and rotoscope management.

TP 142134 RotoPaint2 - ability to select shapes/points across multiple
Roto/RotoPaint nodes at the same time

My intent was to implement this in such a way that you could achieve what I
think you're asking for. However it's not been merged into the main-line,
nor is it scheduled to be anytime soon, as it needs quite a bit more design
work, some auto-tests written and a lot of testing.

That said, any feedback or suggestions are greatly welcomed.
