Yeah, I've experienced the same issue... adding and removing knobs seems
quite slow.

The situation is exacerbated if you want to add a knob at a certain
position... since I don't know of any way to do this other than removing all
knobs after the point of insertion, adding our new knob, then re-adding the
removed knobs...
