So you want to have a projection camera follow an object? How I usually do it is a concatenation like this: -on top I have the axis with the animated transformations of the object -under that, I place another axis with the inverted transformations on the frame of my projection -under that, my projection camera
On step 2, you need to set the values of the object transform on the same frame of your camera projection, invert all the values, invert the transform order and the rotation order. This serves to set the correct offset to the camera, it's going to be zero in the projection frame (so the camera position is not altered in that frame) and then it's going to follow the transformations of the object with the starting offset.
