The filenamefilter is clearly the better way. Still, the filter and it's compliment would have to be made available to all workstations and render nodes for this to work. This does not prevent the linux machine from saving files with linux paths in them. That's probably a non-issue, but I would prefer to have windows file paths in all files always.
