I guess it depends on what length your renders are, our nuke ones tend to be small numbers of tens of seconds per frame (with some rare exceptions) so my natural tendency is to ignore progress within the bounds of a minute or so for renders which will be finished before you have made yourself a drink :-) With longer running times I can see the benefit of improved intra frame progress reporting that doesn't need a terminal emulator to understand the control codes.
