I have run into this in the past as well (and ended up writing a custom resolver as well), so if you find time to write a support ticket, add my vote please

Hi Alex,

Off the top of my head, the custom resolver token is probably the best way within the current scheme - I can't think of a way to ignore completely. Enforcing it has caused a few things to be more difficult than they should be however, so definitely worth dropping a line to support so they can log a feature request for optional ignoring (talking to the guys here, probably some way of defining absolute or relative on a per path basis within the export tree would make sense).

Cheers

Hey guys, this is a Studio/Hiero issue, not sure what the best
list for discussing it this is these days.

Has anyone found a good way of using relative paths in export
    templates?
I want to have presets that are always relative to the source
    clip, not the project root.

Right now im registering a custom Resolver token (that just grabs
the clip path and lops a few levels off the end) but that's
causing some issues when it's combined with the project root
    (workable, but awkward).

Can the projectRoot token be ignored somehow? Right now im setting
it to be just the drive letter (Windows), but I'd really rather
    just disable it completely.
