shuffle the material id's to "r g b" if they aren't showing up as
choices in your mask setting in the Nodes you are using to color
correct.  (you can also shuffle them to new channels but that
shouldn't have to happen.)
I can't imagine why the id channels wouldn't be selectable in the mask
channel selection drop down for the nodes.
