Hi Jesse,
I'm afraid that for the time being it's just that slow. You can help
performance by putting some of the shapes in different Roto nodes.
We're working on speed improvements for the upcoming major release.

I'm importing a roto node into my Nuke session, and when
opening/building the properties bin for a roto node with a hundred or so
shapes (all with animation) was really slow - more than a minute. It
appeared to be single threaded. This operation would freeze Nuke and
I'd get that awesome Mac beachball until the properties bin was done
building. The same would happen upon closing the properties bin.
I'm on Mac 10.6.8. 12GB ram. Nuke 6.3v5.
Thanks in advance!
