Sounds like an AE problem. Check the Cineon settings in the render que. If you choose the "fullrange" option it will render out a DPX with no conversion. If you want to render out a log dpx, use the "overrange" preset (and tweak the numbers so that they match the log2lin you made on import). AE only reads/renders 10bit dpx.
