They may seem that way, but in fact they do fairly different things.

Merge is for combining two layers into one on a per-pixel basis using an 
equation.
ShuffleCopy is for rearranging the channels in two layers from different inputs 
arbitrarily (never combining, just adding or replacing whole channels).
Copy is for bringing channels from one input into the tree of the other (again, 
only adding or replacing).

I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the system of implementation here - 
it seems like merge, copy, shufflecopy all seem to do such similar functions, 
but only one works right for each type of process. It'll take time ot learn 
when to do what.
